I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth… O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:1-3

This Psalm, like so many others has its roots grounded in a historical occasion. The historical context of this chapter is traceable to 1Samuel chapters 21-22. It was there that we found David who has just changed his behavior before Ahimelech as he was on the run from King Saul.

Saul was not happy with David and how he has being elevated by God. The local women did a comparative assessment of Saul & David and how he has being elevated by God. The local women did a comparative assessment of Saul & David and also rated David above his master the King. David ran to the gate of Gath and pretended like a lunatic with spittle running down his beard, why? Goliath the champion from Gath was disgraced, defeated and brought down by David and quite a while after he has made Goliath and Gath an international disgrace, he had to seek refuge in the cave of Adullam, in the midst of his enemies and right there about 400 men came to sit with him and the cave became a cathedral, David picked his pen and wrote… I will bless the Lord (I will speak highly of the Lord) who despite the situation he found himself was delivered, kept and rescued even in the camp of the enemies. David reflected on the basis for him to bless the Lord and he found the following:

Psalm34:4 – I will bless the Lord because he freed me from my fears.

Psalm34:6 – Delivered me from troubles

Psalm34:7 – He guarded and shielded me

Psalm34:8 – He showed me kindness

Psalm34:9 – He supplied all my needs

Psalm34:15 – He listened when I talked to Him (He answered my prayers)

Psalm34:22 – He redeemed my soul of death & power of the grave

Brethren, if you look back at how & where you started and take stock of what God has done despite the negative comments of the enemies, unfriendly friends and your stubborn pursuers, you will agree with me that it is high time we joined the David school of thought, break the silence and overflow with praise and worship, bless the Lord at all times and in every situations. Worship the one and only living God who alone can make a Cathedral of Praise out of every Cave of Adullam the enemies have subjected you & I and resolve in our hearts that no matter what you may be going through now, we shall overflow, overflow, overflow with thanks, praises and quality worship to the Almighty God.

Welcome to your month of Perfection. God is still in the business of putting finishing touches to all his work in –progress in your life for 2014. Be encouraged and give the shout of victory in advance.

Let somebody shout Halleluyah!!!
